Luke Fetch

After 2 years of racing I still love this sport and this year I'm going to be training full time and focusing on building up my fitness and strength for the 09/2010 nationals. Over the past year I've come so far and learnt a lot along the way, which I believe will make me a better person and athlete. I?ve learnt to deal with disappointment and gained an understanding that things don?t always work out and instead of this getting me down, it just makes me want it more!

I enjoy the national races but I also enjoy 100km enduros and more recently I'm getting into multiple day stage races. Highlights to date would have to be making the 2008 Junior worlds team where I got to race in the World Championships in Italy, and I was quite proud of my result at the 2009 Otway Odyssey where I came 6th overall. Throughout 2009 I'll be smashing the Ks on the roadie and mtb to do as well as possible in all races I compete in. I'm also considering making the trip to Canada this year where I will race some World Cup rounds and hopefully gain selection for this years mtb World Champs held here in Canberra.

As more of a long term goal next year I will definitely be travelling overseas to race World Cups and hopefully race in the World Championships held in Canada. One day I'd ideally love to become a World Champion on the MTB scene and would really love to race the Paris Roubaix and in the Tour de France.

My favourite quote (not really a quote) would have to be?

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don?t
If you like to win, but think you cant
Its almost certain you wont

If you think you'll loose, you?ve lost
For out of this world we find
Success begins with a persons will
Its all in the state of mind

If you think your outclassed, you are
You?ve got to think high to rise
You?ve got to be sure of yourself
Before you can ever win a prize

Life?s battles don?t always go
To the stronger man
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!
