Claire Graydon
This year Claire competed in the Canberra 24hr in April and came 4th overall and 1st in her category. This means Claire is now eligable to go to the world champs in October in the US....
I first discovered mountain biking when I borrowed an old bike to ride around to spectator points at a club race in Canberra in 2002. When I arrived with a bike, I was talked in to racing in the novice women category. I was a little nervous, as I had never really ridden off road before, but I was excited to give it a go… I still bare the scars of one of the many crashes I had that day, but I finished the race, grinning and bleeding, and I was hooked!
At first I rode intermittently, and cycling was more of a hobby for me. But over the years I became more and more addicted to improving my fitness, and being competitive in the race scene. To start with it was just club races, then I started travelling to state rounds, and endurance races in other cites and states. Over the past eighteen months I’ve been working to step my cycling up to the next level.
